Jub Jub firearm case postponed to 17 September
The firearm-related case against South African media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye has been postponed to 17 September 2026, following his appearance at the Germiston Magistrates’ Court.
The latest court proceedings come after Maarohanye previously failed to appear at an earlier court date, resulting in a warrant of arrest being issued. The warrant was subsequently struck off the court roll after he appeared in court on Monday.

NPA says investigation is complete
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it has now finalised its investigation and is ready to proceed with the prosecution.
NPA spokesperson Abraham Mohlatlole said the prosecution would proceed fairly and impartially and in accordance with the law.
The development means the State is now preparing to move forward with the criminal case after completing its investigation.

What charges does Jub Jub face?
Maarohanye is facing charges linked to an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale, east of Johannesburg, in June.
According to the State’s case, Maarohanye allegedly confronted the driver after accusing him of having a romantic relationship with his partner.
The charges include allegations relating to the discharge of a firearm in a public place and pointing an object likely to cause a person to believe it is a firearm. A pellet gun was subsequently seized from Maarohanye’s home during the investigation.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Arrest warrant withdrawn
The case also attracted attention after Maarohanye failed to attend his previous court appearance, reportedly citing ill health.
A warrant of arrest was issued but held over until his next appearance.
When he returned to the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on 7 September, the warrant was struck off the roll and his bail was extended. The case was then postponed to 17 September to allow the State to hand over the docket to his legal representatives.
According to SABC News, the case was postponed after Maarohanye appeared in court on Monday.
Jub Jub maintains his innocence
Maarohanye’s legal team maintains that he is innocent of the allegations.
His lawyer, Henry Motseme, said outside court that the defence believes the charges will ultimately not stand. He also indicated that ballistic results relating to the alleged weapon were expected to be provided to the defence at the next court appearance.
Maarohanye remains out on R5,000 bail.
The defence’s position will be tested against the evidence presented by the State as the prosecution moves forward.
Why the next court date matters
The 17 September appearance is expected to provide a clearer indication of how the State intends to proceed now that the investigation has been finalised.
The handover of the docket and outstanding evidence will also allow the defence to examine the State’s case more closely.
The proceedings are likely to remain under public scrutiny because of Maarohanye’s high profile as a television personality and musician.
