Ravyn Lenae has released Blue Island, her highly anticipated third studio album, marking a confident new chapter for the singer-songwriter as she explores identity, transformation, freedom and the limitless possibilities of her sound.
Released via Atlantic Records, Blue Island arrives following the global success of Ravyn Lenae’s hit single “Love Me Not”, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and found success across international charts.
The new album is executive-produced by her Bird’s Eye collaborator and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dahi, creating an immersive musical world shaped by playfulness, vulnerability and the confidence of an artist embracing who she is becoming.

A new era for Ravyn Lenae
For Ravyn Lenae, Blue Island represents both a personal and artistic threshold.
The album arrives after a period of significant change. As the world began paying greater attention to her music, new opportunities arrived alongside the emotional complexities that often come with growing success.

Ravyn Lenae has also reflected on conversations surrounding her identity as a Black woman in music and the assumptions that can accompany expectations about where Black artists are supposed to belong creatively.
Rather than allowing those expectations to define her, she found inspiration in artists who have consistently challenged traditional boundaries.
Influences including Santigold, Janet Jackson and Tracy Chapman helped reinforce her belief that Black women can move across genres, experiment freely and create successful careers without being confined to a single musical category.
With Blue Island, she explores the different sides of her identity — from flirtation and playfulness to awkwardness, loneliness and the lingering emotional intensity often associated with growing up.
Pushing beyond traditional genre boundaries
Sonically, Blue Island expands Ravyn Lenae’s musical universe.
The album features contributions from acclaimed songwriters and collaborators including Justin Tranter, Diana Gordon and Andrew Aged.
Longtime friend and collaborator Doechii also appears on the track “Babygirl.”
The album builds on the sound Ravyn Lenae’s listeners have come to know while incorporating influences from outside traditional R&B.
Her musical inspiration stretches across artists and sounds including Blondie, The Sundays, The Cranberries and Martin Rev, alongside influences drawn from the dramatic choruses and soaring vocals associated with Bollywood soundtracks.
The result is an album that refuses to sit comfortably inside a single genre.
Speaking about the project, Ravyn Lenae described Blue Island as a place of personal arrival and freedom.
She explained that the album represents a point where she feels more comfortable in her identity and less interested in meeting preconceived expectations about what her music should sound like.
Doechii joins Ravyn Lenae on “Babygirl”
One of the album’s standout collaborations comes with Doechii, who features on “Babygirl.”
The collaboration brings together two artists who have each built reputations for creative experimentation and refusing to follow conventional expectations.

Taking the music to the stage
With live performances in mind, Ravyn Lenae worked with New York-based movement director Akira Uchida.
Their collaboration helped develop a performance style that could maintain the intimacy of Ravyn’s music while allowing it to reach larger audiences.
The impact of that collaboration became particularly visible during her debut performances at Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Governor’s Ball in New York City, which took place within 48 hours of each other.
Her growing use of choreography has added another layer to her live identity, creating performances that bring movement and music together while maintaining the emotional connection at the centre of her songs.
